The Journal Star had an article in the Sunday edition about the new Tazewell County administrator, David Jones. It basically talks about how Jones is getting acclimated to his new post after two months on the job.
Welcome to the heartland, Mr. Jones.
County board member Mel Stanford of Mackinaw seems impressed so far:
“What I’ve observed so far that he brings to the table is he’s very knowledgeable. Of course, he’s on a learning curve, which happens whenever you take a new position,” Stanford said. “He seems to me to be a person who’s able to work across the board with different individuals with different personality types.”
Jones states that his top priority is fixing the bugs in the Supervisor of Assessments office that resulted in long delays in delivering property tax bills to Tazewell County residents. He also seeks to remain fiscally responsible.
“Hopefully, one year from now, we’ll be talking about how much progress the county made in 2007,” Jones said.
I sincerely hope so. Hire somebody to fix your useless website while you’re at it. In fact, why don’t you develop an IT department for the county? Just a few random thoughts.
Good luck to you, Mr. Jones. We’ll be watching.
