Schmidgall Sticks Up For 108 Teachers

I’m glad I’m not the only one questioning Jim Mangan’s attack on District 108 teachers. Today’s Pekin Daily Times has a letter to the editor from city council candidate Chad Schmidgall. In the letter Schmidgall praises our teachers by highlighting the hard work that they do for a relative pittance considering the value of their service.

As a parent of District 108 students, I’d like to thank Chad for standing up for our teachers and their students so publicly. I’m sure the teachers of District 108 thank you as well.

Maybe Schmidgall’s breakdown of Mangan’s numbers will illustrate the fallacies in his arguments to a few more people. Of course it won’t sway the diehard Manganites like Dean Bacon, Ed Emmons, Mike Noyes & their ilk. Mangan and his acolytes seem to live to trash the system without offering any constructive solutions of their own.

There are those of us who do appreciate what the teachers in the district do for our children, inspite of what Mangan says. We, being the ones who take a strong leadership roll in our childrens education.

I’m just glad something like this came from a city council candidate that’s not a teacher, administrator or associated with the 108 school board … all of whom have had to defend themselves too often of late. It’s nice when someone from the community sticks up for them.

Your voice is always clear on this topic, Tom … but you’re married to the mob. (chuckle)

You do know that Chad’s wife is a teacher, right? :)

He’s really a great guy, and I’m really proud of him for speaking up. Go Chad!

Ohhh well … I guess he’s married to the mob, too. I still admire him for sticking his neck out for District 108 teachers right before the election.
