Jim Mangan hits a new low in his latest entry onto the editorial page of the Pekin Daily Times. He apparently felt the need to publicly thump his Bible on the heads of homosexuals. Mangan even ends his letter with the threat of apocalyptic doom, brought down on us by Democratic presidential candidates “pandering to those practicing perversion and wanting to bring that perverted teaching into public schools.”
As if kids hurling soda cans and racial epithets at a woman and her child on Derby Street wasn’t bad enough, now we have public gay-bashing by a former member of the District 303 School Board.
Wonderful. Just fantastic.

Hmmm, so this person thinks that someone can be turned into a homosexual?
I’ve never quite understood this: why do some care about what kind of (consentual) sex that two others have?

It makes me sad that he has chosen to demonize a group in the name of his religion.
Does anyone really believe he he takes every Biblical verse as literally as he does the anti-homosexuality parts?
The editorial is so bitter sounding, so accusatory in tone. What happened to “hate the sin, love the sinner?” (BTW, I don’t believe homosexuality is wrong, a sin). If he choses to believe that homosexuality is wrong, so be it, but where does the vitriol come from? If he met another “sinner,” for example, an adulterer, would they be met with such vehement anger?

Fascinating. I didn’t realize Jim Mangan was an authority on the Bible. We should ask him where in the Bible Jesus endorses racial discrimination and segregation. Jim has espoused those views here (by various pen names) as well as previous letters to the editor.
