One Year Later in Dragonland

It’s my one year blogiversary, and it’s certainly been an interesting year. A brief recap:

I began my blog anonymously, but came out in the open half way through my first year.

My first controversial stand involved rhetorically taking on Jim Mangan and Mike Noyes in the school district consolidation debate.

My commentary on the local Pekin political scene, notably the exaggerations and deceptions of mayoral candidate Bill Toel, garnered some attention … both positive and negative.

Most importantly, I’ve had the opportunity to call attention to the great blessings, wrenching heartbreaks and lingering malice within my new home … Pekin, IL. I’ve grown to love this town, and most of the people that I’ve had the opportunity to meet – online and off – have been fantastic. Pekin is a wonderful community, and I hope to see it grow and evolve into an even better place.

Cheers also to my fellow local bloggers & regular commenters. You’re a unique bunch of folks, and I appreciate both your support and your criticism. One of these days, I’ll even show up to a blogger bash. ;)

I look forward to seeing what the future holds for us all.

One would think your blog earning you a spot on election night coverage on WCBU would be a highlight worth mentioning. ;)

Happy blogiversary. Keep up with the good work.

Congrats! It’s nice to read a blog with some substance. I wish I could convince myself to write something a bit more serious. Alas, that would be too difficult.

    Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I was M.I.A. from blogging for over a week. It’s all those darn kids and their school physicals.

Funny, gone for a week and people are thanking you for still being around.

Congrats! Who knows what Year #2 will hold.

Knight: It’s been some time since I checked on you and still see your head is big as ever. Being against consolidation only proved you were in the small minority of voters but in the pocket of the school officials. I noticed you never told your readers that superintendent White’s wife worked in you medical office, which no doubt played a large part in your biased statements right from the start of your blog site. Honesty hasn’t been one of your strong points.

And from one of your resent posts I see that you are an atheist. Against god and voters and also a Cardninal fan Yah…Pekin really struck gold last year at this time…fools gold.
As time goes by, the real truth of dr.jeckel will be seen.

Funny, I thought she worked at the Hospital. Nothing like skewing the facts to make the story more intriguing.

    Lisa,
Lori White worked in Dr. Tosi’s office, and yes I worked with her for a short time while my own office was being set up and again when my nurse was away on maternity leave. I’m really not sure how that puts me “in the pocket” of school officials. Both Mrs. White and myself were employees of Pekin ProHealth … and she was Tosi’s nurse, not mine. Do you think she was slipping me cash to defend her husband on my blog???

If you look back and check the dates on my school consolidation posts, you’ll see that I began arguing against Jim Mangan and his personal attacks on the integrity of our former superintendent in late August of 2006. I didn’t start seeing patients in Dr. Tosi’s office until late Novemberafter the district consolidation referendum. I’d already made many posts on the topic by then, before I even met Lori White.

So Lisa … you might want to get your facts straight before you try to slander me.

Yes, I found both Lori and Don White to be intelligent, down-to-earth, kind and dedicated people. Both of them had the best interests of Pekin’s children at heart … until they were driven away by the baseless slander of people like yourself and Mr. Mangan. The Whites received death threats as well, including one that their son found when he played their answering machine one day.

Finally, I don’t see how my religious preference makes one jot of difference. Nevertheless, let me clarify … I’m not an atheist. There’s nothing wrong with being an atheist, but I am not. I’m agnostic. There’s a difference. Look it up and educate yourself.
