Am I actually the one scooping this? WHOI anchor Jen Christensen now has her own blog … News Anchor Mom.

She’s probably really regretting it now.  She has a post about the unfounded and extremely dangerous MYTH that autism is linked to vaccination. I, of course, went on a rant.

I am thrilled that you commented on such a controversial and important topic. It’s people like you I hope continue to add their opinions. I am planning on posting on topics that really matter to parents.
    Thanks!

Anytime you want me to blather on and on ad nauseum about vaccination, just ask. :)

THAT is JUST what I was thinking.

Well, I for one am contrarian here, I guess, because I don’t share you guys’s faith in the medical establishment and in the big pharmaceutical companies.

It seems we want to take a shot or swallow a pill and everything will be fine.

Vaccines are designed to prevent terrible illnesses, but what’s in those vaccines, and are there better, safer solutions? Who is pushing these vaccines? Who is trying to force them on us? Why?

Look closely at the big pharma companies and their agenda, and don’t forget: the products they’ve had to remove from the shelves.

Autism, Alzheimers, strokes, AIDS, so many new diseases. Could they possibly be related to new toxins in our water, air, food? Or to radiation from cell phones and nuclear tests?

Or are they all some “virus”, “demon”, “bad bacteria” or other nebulous woe that requires our trustworthy and esteemed drug manufacturers to combat for us?

I’m really tired of being accused of being a corrupt tool of “the Man” based on nothing more than fear-mongering and paranoia. “What’s in those vaccines” has been proven safe in studies of thousands of children and in post-marketing surveillance of millions of doses given, Vasper. Please refrain from making insinuations of corruption and toxin-driven plagues without a single shred of evidence.

“Autism, Alzheimers, strokes, AIDS, so many new diseases”

Autism, alzheimers, and strokes are NEW diseases? really?

No, not really. They’ve been around for centuries … probably millenia. They just weren’t recognized as a major threat and weren’t talked about much before the last century because most people died from infectious diseases. Before the 20th century, families had a dozen kids because up to half of them died before age 5, killed by diseases that are now prevented by vaccination.

    Knight in Dragonland,
I hope the controversy on my site last weekend isn’t keeping you away. There are plenty of healthy parenting topics where parent’s would benefit from your advice, ones that aren’t so controversial.

No Jen … my life outside the blogosphere is keeping me away. I don’t mind controversy.

Are there lots of sick kids in your practice? Anything newsworthy?
