First Aaron Schock proposes concealed carry legislation in the Illinois General Assembly. With the dominance of the Democratic Party in the state legislature and the governor’s mansion, this bill has as much chance of flight as a lead balloon tied to an anchor. Now Schock is pandering to farmers by proposing a mandated increase in the amount of ethanol blended into gasoline. There’s also a new TV ad showing Schock wearing a flannel shirt and standing on a combine while it’s harvesting corn.
Does anyone actually think Schock has deep-seated convictions about the 2nd Amendment or an honest empathy with Illinois farmers that compelled him to make these proposals, or is he blatantly sucking up? I know what I’d vote for in that little poll.

Perhaps it is Colleen Callahan Burns interest in the Democratic nomination that is propelling lil’ Aaron to act to protect the Republican rural majority. Whoever came up with her candidacy is smart. Something we haven’t seen much off from Dems in the 18 District since the Wilson Administration.
