I can relate … I was an original “Trekkie”. Not over the top or anything, I never went to any conventions or wore the outfits, but I have watched the originals through the various spinoffs. I think these and other “out of this world” entertainment are popular for that very reason — they take you away from your Earthly troubles and away to another place altogether. The best entertainment does that for you. Some like the adrenaline punch of horror flicks, the emotional chic-flic and so on. For me, just take me away to something high tech, nerdy and / or out of this world!

    Hmm… where’s the chick flicks?

(Okay, I don’t actually watch those, REALLY, but I love a good independent film, “The Fully Monty,” “Lost in Translation,” etc… so I guess I’m in my own catagory of geekdom)

I rarely watch chick flicks either, but once in a while Whatsername wants to and I will go along just because I’m weak. I only mentioned them as another of the weird things people watch for entertainment.

Wait…A Hellboy sequel? Did anyone actually watch the first one on purpose?

And Iron Man will kick ass.

I’m really looking forward to Iron Man. Casting Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark was perfect. I’m sure he can relate well to the role of an alcoholic womanizer, and he’s a dead ringer for the comic depictions of Stark.

The new Hulk looks promising. Banner v. Blonsky in a green behemoth street fight has awesome film potential.

After seeing Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, I have a new found respect for Robert Downey, Jr. It’s one of the best dark comedies I’ve seen in a long time.
