Ten Republican Senators recently initiated a doomed attempt to revive the Federal Marriage Amendment, a Constitutional ban on gay marriage.

Two of the sponsors are Senator Larry Craig of Idaho and Senator David Vitter of Louisiana.

After my first read on that (shaking head and gently pushing unhinged jaw closed) I have to wonder if the motivation is to salve their own burning conscience or an attempt to redeem themselves in the eyes of constituency. There is no way I can be convinced they have any REAL concern about the sanctity of marriage.

I’m with Michaal… I love how they term that, too, “sanctity of marriage,” as if allowing a couple in love (whatever their gender) somehow threatens anyone else’s marriage. The big threat to marriage is infildelity. Oh, and people living a lie, that seems like a big threat to marriage, too.
