BJ Stone asks … what the hell happened to John McCain?

Answer – hubris, the same tragic flaw that felled Achilles in the Iliad.

John McCain is no Achilles. He didn’t stand a chance against the overwhelming power of his own ego.

I think McCain’s own party did a better job of “breaking” him than his captors.

The “Make-Believe Maverick” article in Rolling Stone is a must read. It calls into question the entire mythos of heroism that John McCain has wrapped around himself.

The Rolling Stone article is definitely a must read – all ten pages. After reading the article it appears that John McCain is who he has always been, his personality then appears to consistent with what we are seeing now.

The Rolling Stone is hardly my idea of unbiased journalism….the whole article reeks of an agenda which insults my intelligence. I’m just tired of the “Ebert and Siskel” nature of this election…people purposely taking a stand despite their own beliefs just to stand against something else….blatant lies, distortions, and what promises to be more of the same from whichever of the two main parties steps up to the plate. Obviously the lift the Republicans received when Pallin was announced has faded with the current economic crisis. Bush = Mcain to most, and this current state of affairs has most voters ready to try anything…anything as long as it is different. What I can’t help but wonder is…what about real change? I don’t see enough real change in either of our choices. Obama is in over his head and McCain appears old and cranky…but both are just hacks for their parties. McCain used to stand up to his party occasionally…Obama never has…no free thinkers
