Some Advice for the G.O.P.

Republicans need to quit this “guilt by association” nonsense brought on by the national focus on Blago and figure out what they stand FOR …

It’s not fiscal conservatism. They supported the most massive expansion of government since LBJ and ran our government by running up the national credit card.

It’s not social conservatism, family values or strict constructionist interpretation of the Constitution. Just look at the sex scandals (Craig, Foley, etc etc etc), corruption scandals (Stevens, DeLay, etc etc etc), and carte-blanc support of torture & wiretapping.

What does the Republican Party stand FOR?

Abortion is bad. Oh, and they don’t want gay people to get married.

Wait a minute … those are things that Republicans are AGAINST. Other than getting re-elected and maintaining political power for themselves and their privileged cronies, what do Republicans stand FOR???

Cue the crickets.

Oh, I know, they’ll say they are for “family values,” yes, while not wanting to allow others to be a family. And they’ll say they are pro-business. (But aren’t we all “pro-business?” Dem’s just want to be pro-business AND pro-worker.

Apparently, the GOP doesn’t read KiD. Yesterday, the state GOP staged a press conference and to call Pat Quinn “a Blagojevich Democrat.” Because, as we all know, all Democrats are exactly the same.

Although, I think you may be wasting your time. I’ve met precisely four rational republicans. I doubt they read your blog.

Didn’t it use to be FOR small government (until they got into power that is). Somewhere along the line, they decided to attach themselves to evangelicals and the ol’ ‘family values’ crusade and now everything is a war on (insert abortion, gay rights, drugs, terrorism, middle class, blue collars, poverty, etc). Little changed, except the rich getting richer, of course! But yes, all dems are now Blago dems. Little do ‘they’ know, most dems can’t stand Blago and are not standing by him. The GOP, however, stand by any and all members who commit adultary or homosexuality. Wait…isn’t that hypocrisy? Oh yeah…it’s the Republicans, the grand bastion of hypocrisy.
