I’m Not a Mac User …

August 28th, 2008 · 6 Comments

… but I really like this theme, so we’ll just go with it.
BTW, playing with my thingy was precipitated by Billy playing with BlogPeoria’s thingies. Blame the Blogfather.

Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce Hip to the Blogosphere

August 8th, 2008 · No Comments

The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce has started blogging. They actually have multiple blogs running, including one dedicated to the Marigold Festival and another to the Pepsi Marigold Medallion Hunt. There are also Chamber-related photos (ribbon cutting & ground breaking ceremonies, Puttin’ On Pekin breakfast photos, etc.) online at Picasa.

A New Pekin Blog

April 5th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Ed Emmons, chronic curmudgeon of the Pekin Daily Times editorial page, has entered the blogosphere. For those who aren’t familiar with Ed’s work, he’s a frequent writer of letters to the editor in the local paper. From the complaints on his blog, we’d see even more of his letters if many weren’t rejected [...]

Will It Play With The Pundit?

April 2nd, 2008 · 4 Comments

Did you catch this article in the Journal Star this morning? I’m wondering how this will play with Mr. Billy Dennis, the Peoria Pundit.
Money quote from Peoria City Councilman Ryan Spain:
‘Will It Play in Peoria?’ still has some real good legs on the national scene. Some (in Peoria) are tired of the slogan, [...]

Tim McGinnis has entered the public blogosphere at his own self-titled site, joining fellow WHOI anchor Jen Christensen, the News Anchor Mom.
Welcome to the fray, Tim!
Addendum: Sorry … I shouldn’t forget that Mark Welp and Meghan Fisher also have their own blogs.  My apologies.
Jeesh … you guys are bloggin’ fools!

New Theme

June 25th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Well, new for me at least. Those familiar with the Peoria area blogosphere will recognize it as Peoria Illinoisan’s old theme.
Apparently PI switched because some readers were having trouble posting their comments. If anyone has a problem posting, please email me at knightindragonland@yahoo.com.
Addendum: I didn’t use widgets with my old theme. Widgets [...]

Central Illinois Red Scare

June 14th, 2007 · 17 Comments

Wow … based on multiple local blog posts of late (here at the Peoria Chronicle, here and here at Peoria Pundits), the spirit of Joe McCarthy lives on in Central Illinois.  I think some local bloggers and their commenters have been watching too many re-runs of Red Dawn and Amerika.  It’s like the Red Scare [...]

HOI News At Five Redux

June 11th, 2007 · 60 Comments

I want to thank the crew at WHOI for inviting me on for their “Connected” segment this evening, especially Meghan Fisher, Nishi Gupta (my first contact at the station) and Tim McGinnis. Tim did a great job of talking me through the process and set my nerves at ease.
I have to agree with Eyebrows [...]

Knight in TV Land

June 11th, 2007 · 5 Comments

I’m going to be a guest on WHOI News at Five this afternoon. We’ll be talking about Jake Grys and racism in Pekin. Yeah … no controversy whatsoever. We’ll see how many death threats I get this time. Wish me luck!

He’s Baaaaaaaaaack

June 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

I guessed that Randall Emert Sr. would not stay away from the blogosphere for long.  His former blogger persona Emtronics is no more – deleted for the second time since I’ve been blogging.
Now Randall has re-christened himself the Peoria Antipundit and is back to blogging, offering a no-holds-barred perspective from the south side of Peoria.
Randall [...]

One Of These Days …

May 29th, 2007 · 4 Comments

… I’ll actually make it to a blogger bash.
I’m really not dissin’ you guys, I swear. I know, I know … I’ve been blogging for close to a year now, and I still have yet to attend a bash. Unfortunately I had a meeting at work that started at 5:30 and lasted until [...]

I’ve Been Tagged … I Feel So Funky

May 27th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Jeep2000, the anonymous purveyor of the new “Support your local central Illinois businesses” blog, has tagged me. Now I apparently have to tell everyone why I blog.
Here, in no particular order, is why mild-mannered Matt Weidman became the blogger A Knight in Dragonland …
1) I’m an opinionated S.O.B.
2) I enjoy talking to myself. [...]
